Boiler? Boiler?

Got ideas on how to improve the site? Keep 'em to yourself! Just kidding; post them here.

Boiler? Boiler?

Reddit gains popularity. About the same time, G.com loses popularity.

Correlation or causation? You decide.

Dude, seriously!

I'm guilty of this in a big way. In the rare event that I see something before Reddit does, my first thought is "Oh wow, I should post this on Reddit" instead of "I bet g.com would like this!"

And now that everyone I know (Magnum being the only exception) is on facebook, any news I have of a personal nature goes there.

It's crossed my mind quite a few times to either shut this site down, or maybe keep the url and turn it into a true blog. It was fun while it lasted, but honestly, even I don't use it so much anymore.

Would anyone object?

Pros and Cons:

PRO:

1. None of your random high school friends are posting e-cards or "Every 'Like' = 1 Prayer" crap here.
2. We all are actual friends or family. We're pretty tight.

CON:
1. It's kinda a pain in the ass to post pictures here.
2. It's not uncommon for several days to pass with no new content.

Just to name a few...

I think Garmachi has gone the way of MySpace. We are all on Facebook (sorry Mr and Mrs Magnum) so we keep up with each other that way. I for one post more stuff to FB than I do here. I mean, who here wants to see the keloid scars on my back??? :smt102.
FB is much more into that kind of stuff...

At least you still retain ownership of the pictures you post here.

I'm actually thinking about veering away from facebook. It seems that if you don't log in very often for a few weeks, you get less and less messages. Maybe I should start posting here. Then again, it's hard to want to post here when there's not much happening. I'm on the fence, but I would give up facebook before I gave up Garmachi. My real friends know how to get in contact with me.

I dislike 90% of the stuff that's posted on Facebook.

I like 90% of the stuff that's posted on G.com.

Quality over quantity, I guess.

I'm with you, Katy. Although, the question is... Is there another more user friendly site that we can throw in on? Surely there's a better format than this one floating around.

I'm about to have some time off, and updating the user-friendliness of the site would make a good project for me. I've been meaning to do it for a while, and since most of you seem interested in keeping the site, I'd be happy to do it.

By the way Travis, it's Katie, not Katy.

Well....it's not like there's a quota. This is just a nice medium to share things with eachother....not with 18 million trollers on FB.

I like that G.com is under the radar. I would post thing here I would never put on FB, twitter, etc becaus of an employer or family member reading it.

Alcohol experiences, atheist tyraids, etc.

Although I'm gulty, as many others are, of not using the site enough, either.

Those of you who are my Facebook friends probably know I haven't posted much on there, either. I came here today expecting end of the world doomsday information, and hopefully some cool astro-pics of planetary alignment. I'm disappointed none of this is here, :(
