Re: Let's break the cycle, shall we?

I am curious just how some of you are following along. I jump every time the phone makes a noise, hoping it's Gary with an update. (My apologies to anyone that calls or texts me that is not Gary - I'm only disappointed for a split second. :D ) I have the map on his website, a topo map on the living...

Yep. It works great on my nasty, sweaty running stuff. It makes my socks smell fresh as a daisy (and you know how my feet are).

Re: Let's break the cycle, shall we?

I can't remember if I've linked it here before or not, but I'm dumping all of Gary's photos from the trail here . They'll be added every few weeks as he sends me memory cards from his camera. Also, Tide needs to contact me to do a commercial and give me a life-long supply of the stuff. It friggin' w...

Re: Let's break the cycle, shall we?

The directions said never to put the pack in a washing machine. Too bad! Though I had to wash the top half and then the bottom half with the top open. Woolite didn't even begin to touch the stank. Next up: a gigantic capful of Tide Sport with Febreze and a couple hour soak... http://imgur.com/f4gZj7...

The drive in that area was very pretty. We got to drive through this, Backbone Rock:

Re: Let's break the cycle, shall we?

I'm tackling it inside and out with the hose, Woolite and a scrub brush this weekend. Gary will grow back into it and nothing else is wrong with it so I'll try to save the poor thing.

Re: Let's break the cycle, shall we?

Great post, Travis! Thanks for the trip report. It's really cool to have even the smallest taste of life on the trail. Almost makes me want to do it, too. And then he tells me about losing more toenails...and then there's the pack out in the garage that smells so bad after one month that I may have ...

Re: Camelopardalid Meteor Shower tonight!

I got up at 2:30 and laid in the driveway for 30 minutes. There were some wispy clouds to the north, but nothing that should have prevented me from seeing meteors. I didn't see a single one. I went out again at 3:45 and still didn't see any. But the lightning bugs are starting to come out so I got t...

Camelopardalid Meteor Shower tonight!

There's a possible meteor shower between 2:00 and 4:00am tonight (technically Saturday morning). This is the first time we've ever gone through this comet's tail so no one knows what to expect - could be a dud or it could be spectacular. I'll be setting my alarm just in case my skies clear up! It'll...
